Internet Explorer end of support¶
Internet Explorer end of support¶
In June 2022, Microsoft ended support for Internet Explorer 11 on most Windows 10 versions. As a result, RG Email Sidebar is no longer supported in the following scenarios:
- Accessing Outlook on the web through Internet Explorer. For a list of compatible browsers, refer to this article.
- Using desktop versions of Microsoft Outlook (e.g., Office 2016 and 2019 volume-licensed editions) that rely on Internet Explorer 11 to render add-ins.
Volume-licensed editions of Office 2016 and 2019 depend on Internet Explorer 11, which is no longer supported, making them incompatible with RG Email Sidebar. However, other perpetual license editions of Office 2016 and 2019 may still work in these cases:
- Without WebView2 installed: Limited compatibility.
- With WebView2 installed: Full compatibility, as these editions use modern rendering technologies instead of Internet Explorer.
Tip
To check your Outlook version and its compatibility, see Microsoft’s guidance on browsers used by Office add-ins.
Ensuring compatibility with RG Email Sidebar¶
To maintain full access to RG Email Sidebar features, optimal performance, and modern security, we strongly recommend upgrading to:
- Microsoft 365 Outlook (subscription-based).
- Outlook 2021 or later (perpetual license editions).
For a complete list of supported email services, see Supported email servers.
Why upgrading is critical¶
Using an unsupported version of Microsoft Office or outdated browsers can negatively affect the functionality and performance of RG Email Sidebar. Potential issues include:
- Degraded performance: Older rendering engines can lead to slower response times or errors when using the add-in.
- Security vulnerabilities: Outdated systems are more prone to security threats, putting your data at risk.
- Limited feature access: New updates and features in RG Email Sidebar may not work on older systems, reducing usability and productivity.
Upgrading ensures uninterrupted access to RG Email Sidebar, optimal performance, and improved security.
