3 min read

User-level article

This article is for Salesforce users who have permission to customize their own Lightning app navigation and page layouts. If you’re a Salesforce admin, see Add Revenue Grid widgets in Salesforce (admin guide).

Revenue Grid sales widgets are visual components embedded in Salesforce that display real-time CRM and business communication insights. They help you stay on top of active deals, prioritize your pipeline, and monitor your performance—all without leaving Salesforce.

This article explains how to open the Revenue Grid app, add widgets to app navigation, and place widgets on record pages—based on the tools available to individual users.

What Revenue Grid widgets offer

Revenue Grid widgets deliver at-a-glance sales data, including:

  • Engagement insights: Spot accounts or deals that need immediate attention.
  • Activity tracking: View recent communications with leads, contacts, or accounts.
  • Pipeline performance: Track your win rates, deal size, and quota progress.
  • Personal insights: Understand how your activity aligns with sales goals.

Know your environment before starting

To use Revenue Grid widgets, your organization must have the Revenue Grid managed package installed. The way you access and interact with widgets depends on the version installed and the Salesforce interface you use.

  • If your organization uses version 1.83 or earlier, widgets are built using Salesforce Canvas App technology, a framework for embedding external web applications in Salesforce. These widgets run inside Visualforce frames and are compatible with both Salesforce Classic and Lightning Experience.
  • If your organization uses version 1.87 or later, widgets are built using Lightning Web Components and Named Credentials. This modern architecture improves performance, ensures better security, and provides deeper integration with Salesforce features. These widgets are only available in Lightning Experience.

If you’re unsure which version you’re using or whether Lightning Experience is enabled, contact your Salesforce admin.

Add Revenue Grid tabs to app navigation

Add Revenue Grid widgets to Salesforce layouts

You can embed widgets directly on record pages—such as leads, contacts, accounts, or opportunities—for immediate access to sales insights.

Select the procedure that matches your managed package version.

  1. Navigate to the record page you want to edit. For example, open the detail page of a specific account, lead, contact, or opportunity.
  2. Click the setup gear icon and select Edit Page.

  3. In the left panel, scroll to Custom - Managed and drag the RG Widget component to the layout.

  4. In the Widget Path menu, select the widget you need.

  5. Click Save.

  6. Click the back icon to return to the page.

  4. In the right panel, select a widget in the Visualforce Page Name menu (1). The selected widget will appear in the Visualforce component on the page (2).

  5. Repeat to add multiple widgets if needed.

  6. Click Save to apply the changes.
