How to resolve UTF-7 email encoding issue

The Revenue Grid Email Sidebar and Sync do not support saving emails encoded with the UTF-7 format, as Microsoft has deprecated it. The Add-in cannot be launched on email items that are encoded with UTF-7.

Auto-synchronization of these items results in a sync issue:

Unfortunately, Outlook does not provide an option to change the encoding for incoming emails. The sender must configure the correct encoding. If you are the recipient of an email with UTF-7 encoding and want to save it, you will need to ask the sender to change their email encoding from UTF-7 to UTF-8 for outgoing messages.

To change the outgoing emails’ encoding in MS Outlook:

  1. Go to the File tab.

  1. In the left-side menu, click Options.

  1. In the window that appears, click Advanced in the left-side menu.

  1. In the International options section, ensure that Automatically select encoding for outgoing messages is set to Unicode (UTF-8).

  1. Click OK to save the changes.
