Using the Product on Mobile Devices




Presently, due to a limitation in MS Outlook Mobile, the Add-In can only be used in MS Outlook for Android or iOS with Office 365/ mail accounts, and not with MS Exchange accounts. However, MS Exchange accounts data can be exchanged with Salesforce using Revenue Inbox synchronization (through auto-sharing or the custom “Salesforce Emails” folder)

Revenue Inbox allows you to collaborate on the go within your Salesforce Org and share your contacts, emails, calendar events, and tasks with Salesforce right from your smartphone. In addition, you can modify shared contacts, tasks, or calendar appointments on your smartphone – these changes will be automatically shared in Salesforce through synchronization. If a task or calendar appointment from Salesforce includes a reminder, you will get a notification on your mobile phone when this activity approaches.

To share an email, contact, calendar event, or task on a mobile device, you can use the same basic method as in MS Outlook desktop/web or Office 365, that is:

  • Move the email (or contact, task) to the custom “Salesforce” folder in your mail client


Since MS Outlook for Mobile does not support using item categories, this way of marking items for sharing by RI is not available.

Please also note that Revenue Inbox Add-In (Sidebar) is not supported by any native mobile email applications: it is only available in MS Outlook for iOS or Android - however you still can configure these clients to interact with Salesforce over RI sync using the dedicated folder/category items marking method (whichever is supported by the client).

Finally, please note that when you are running Revenue Inbox in MS Outlook on a mobile device, due to the peculiarities of the mobile implementation of MS Outlook the Add-In follows slightly different use patterns than on desktop/laptop devices. In particular, since no Compose mode is available in mobile Outlook implementations, email saving behavior and the flow of the Send meeting time slots and Share calendar availability features are more basic; for the latter pre-defined non-modifiable Salesforce templates must be used in the Meeting Scheduler. Another current limitation of the mobile implementation on both iOS and Android is the impossibility to share files attached to emails or calendar items in Salesforce: a “Something wrong happened. Attachments were not saved.” will be triggered if you attempt doing that.



Using Revenue Inbox in Outlook for Android or iOS

You can effectively use the Outlook app for Android or iOS with Revenue Inbox. One of the key advantages of these apps over other email clients is their full compatibility with Revenue Inbox Outlook Add-In. This way you may not only share your emails, contacts, and tasks via the dedicated Salesforce folder, but you may also take the full advantage of using RI Sidebar.

You can also run Revenue Inbox in or Office 365 opened in your mobile web browser, however using the Outlook app is the recommended way, as it offers enhanced experience


With Revenue Inbox installed in MS Outlook Mobile, you can share the following kinds of items in Salesforce:

  • Email messages
  • Contacts
  • Calendar items
  • Tasks

Additionally, Revenue Inbox Sidebar is supported in MS Outlook Mobile, as a slightly limited rendition.


How to open Revenue Inbox Add-In on iOS (MS Outlook Mobile)

To open Revenue Inbox Sidebar in the MS Outlook Mobile after you have installed the Add-In and activated RI Sync, tap the ••• (More) icon next to the sender’s address, then select Open Revenue Inbox.

Sharing Emails on iOS (MS Outlook Mobile)

To share an email message in Salesforce, move this message to the Salesforce Emails folder or select it, open RI Sidebar and click Save.


Working with Salesforce Contacts on iOS (MS Outlook Mobile)

1. in your iPhone’s Setting, open Passwords & Accounts and add your corporate account


2. After that, open Groups in your iPhone’s address book; there you can manage your Contact Groups:


3. You will see the dedicated Salesforce Contacts group among your Contacts:


4. In this Salesforce Contacts group, you will see the key fields of your business contacts retrieved from Salesforce


To synchronize a contact with Salesforce, create this contact in this Salesforce Contacts group or move an existing one to this group.



Sharing Calendar Items in iOS (MS Outlook Mobile)

Since MS Outlook Mobile does not feature item categories anymore and the Sidebar is unavailable for opened calendar items, you have only three options for sharing calendar items:



Sharing Tasks (iOS)

To share a task with Salesforce, create this task in the Salesforce Tasks list.



Using Revenue Inbox with Gmail for Android

When using Revenue Inbox with the Gmail app on Android, you can share the following objects with Salesforce:

  • Email messages
  • Contacts


As for calendar events, you can only view and edit events that were synchronized from Salesforce to your Google Calendar. However, you cannot share with Salesforce calendar events that you create in Google Calendar. Besides, tasks are not supported on stock Android.


Sharing Emails in Gmail (Android)

To share an email message in Salesforce, move the message to the “Salesforce Emails” folder.


Syncing Contacts (Android)

To share a contact with Salesforce, assign the custom “Salesforce” label to this contact.
